Dear Partners in Mission,
Santa Fe is a community with a wide mixture of home construction styles.  The original technique was wood.  Many folks have gone to cement blocks for newer construction, while others have had to use corrugated tin or plywood as more economical material.  I find the wood homes have much more character, however they are dangerous.  There was a recent fire in a row of wooden homes and from what they say, it only took about 10 minutes from the fire’s start to consume the 9 homes (picture is 3 days later).  All are thanking God that no one was injured in the fire, although one man was home sleeping after his night shift, a neighbor woke him in time to escape.  It was a complete loss of all material items that people did not have with them.  The consolation ministry has been able to coordinate a clothing drive for these families and with God’s help encourage them to work together in the rebuilding process.  With an estimate for the construction we hope to be able to help some with materials, with God’s help.  We will continue to walk with them, sharing God’s love for all of God’s children.  Please pray that all of these families may be in their own home again before the expectant mother among them gives birth in October.

May God bless and guide you in all you do!

In Christ,

Cathy Donahoe, SAMS Missionary
