Ministry
Frank and Shawnee are serving in Bolivia. Frank is the Bishop of the Diocese of Bolivia, consecrated on February 15, 2001. His vision for the diocese includes "making disciples, raising up leaders and planting new churches". As bishop, he desires to serve as part of a ministry team with the clergy and laypeople of the diocese. Shawnee is involved in discipleship ministry at the local and diocesan level.
Call
Frank and Shawnee both grew up in Christian homes and made a personal commitment to Christ at a young age. Shawnee knew as a child that she wanted to serve as a missionary. The calling was affirmed when her parents went into missionary service while she was in college and she had the opportunity to spend three months with them. Frank felt God leading him to ordained ministry when he was a senior in high school and was nudged toward missionary service while in college. Their first experience in missionary service was from 1980-1984 in Ecuador through SAMS. They returned to SAMS in 1992 and served in Honduras until Frank was elected Bishop in 2000. Frank and Shawnee have raised five children while serving as missionaries.
Prayer Challenges
The Lyons face a number of challenges in their ministry in Bolivia. Their diocese is small with only three churches and one ordained Bolivian. It is also a relatively new diocese, established around 1980.
