Ministry
Allen and Rachel with sons, James and John, are raising up leaders, both lay and ordained, for the diocese by helping to create a new seminary and by training leaders in evangelism, discipleship, and youth ministry. The Saints Augustine seminary, was launched early in 2001 in Arequipa. They are also planting a new seminary in Lima. God is providing many gifted leaders who need training, which Allen and Rachel have begun to give them through Saturday morning classes. Both Allen and Rachel have also become ordained.
Call
When Rachel was 8, she was inspired by the biography of Gladys Aylward and vowed to become a missionary. God reminded her of this vow at the age of 14, when her parents moved the family to Uruguay as missionaries. At the age of 20, during her Latin American studies, God filled Rachel's heart with a call to missions for life. Allen also felt called around the age of 20 with a vision of the world needing him as God's hands and voice to proclaim God's love. Allen and Rachel met in seminary with a shared vision of serving God in missions wherever He led them.
Prayer Challenges
They are facing the challenges associated with starting any organization, such as a seminary, "from scratch". They need teachers for a seminary in Lima as well as wisdom to balance their responsibilities - when and where to focus. They are investing as much as possible in the local leadership, and ask for prayer for the leaders being raised up that God would bring depth and maturity to their walk of faith.
