New Law on Charitable Transfers
Congress passed the following (retroactive to Jan. 1, 2010): "Taxpayers who are age 70 ˝ and older can transfer as much as $100,000 a year directly from an IRA to a qualified charitable organization, without having to count any of that transfer amount as taxable income. In addition Taxpayers can choose to have qualified transfers made in January of 2011 and still be treated as having been made during 2010." Check with your tax advisor to take advantage of this tax free transfer.
